Slokam-1.
Drataratra Uvaca : ( Dratarastrar asks )
Dharmakshetre Kurukshetre samaveta yuyutsvah,
Mamakah Pandavascaiva kimakurvhata Sanjaya.
Dharmakshtre Kurukshetre = In the Kurukshetra, the holy land,
Yuyutsavah samavetah = Standing face to face to fight a war,
Mamakah Pandavah ca eva = My side of people and Pandavas,
Sanjaya! kim akurvhata = Hey Sanjaya! What they did?
By this one slokam the blind king Dratarashtra's question ends. Hereafter we never hear him in Bhagavadgeeta. Sanjayan narrates the war details in the following seven hundreds slokams : answer to the question of the king.
Dratarashtra is aware well of the unlawful treatments shown by his sons kouravas against his brother Pandu's sons. Though the kourava army is larger and stronger than Pandavas, The king doubts about the final result of the war. He has no peace of mind due to earlier adharmas done by his sons towards Pandavas. Hence he asks Sanjaya to provide the war details. Sanjaya has acquired a Super natural power ( blessed by Guru Vyasa maharishi ) to visualise the war actions from anywhere.
